We decided that a drive up to the\u00a0Sn\u00e6fellsnes peninsula would be a good day trip.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Capture.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-442\" src=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"632\" height=\"728\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Capture.png 632w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Capture-260x300.png 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A word on pronouncing &#8220;Sn\u00e6fellsnes&#8221;: We have no idea how to pronounce &#8220;Sn\u00e6fellsnes&#8221;.\u00a0 We kept saying &#8220;Snuffalupagus&#8221;, which is probably insensitive.\u00a0 We apologize.<\/p>\n<p>The drive up the coast was, unsurprisingly, stunning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_094034.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-443\" src=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_094034-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_094034-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_094034-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_094034-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_094034-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lots of volcanic mountains.\u00a0 Also sheep.\u00a0 Lots of sheep.\u00a0 Those were less stunning, however.<\/p>\n<p>We made a stop at a cafe for baked goods, and then another at a volcano that you can, in theory, hike to.\u00a0 However, the hike turned out to be a bit longer than we had budgeted, so we stopped to look at some goats and then moved on.\u00a0 I am not a good judge of goats &#8211; Where Thursday&#8217;s meal represented a cutting edge culinary experience, Saturday&#8217;s was fine dining that focused on traditional Icelandic culture and ingreedients.\u00a0 We did NOT choose to experience rotted shark, but instead feasted on lamb and an entire cod head glazed in blueberries and honey:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_193117.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-449\" src=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_193117-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_193117-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_193117-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_193117-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/20180623_193117-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fried bit on the upper left is the cod&#8217;s tonsils.\u00a0 Did you know cod have tonsils?\u00a0 Me neither.\u00a0 Tasty, tasty tonsils.
