Jesus Christ&#8230;), we somehow managed to gift each other not one but TWO stuffed lemurs, which we still have to this very day.\u00a0 Their names are Chocolate and Vanilla.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250329_111209_720.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2121\" src=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250329_111209_720.jpg\" alt=\"Stuffed Leumrs\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250329_111209_720.jpg 720w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250329_111209_720-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250329_111209_720-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oddly, despite the fact that the island is known for it, we managed not to include any actual vanilla in this meal.\u00a0 Then again, we didn&#8217;t include any lemur either, so there you are.<\/p>\n<p>We should really get on with this.\u00a0 There are 17 &#8220;M&#8221; countries, so there&#8217;s no time to waste.<\/p>\n<p>So what are we actually making?\u00a0 The most plausible candidate for a national dish of Magadascar as far as I can tell is <em>Romazava<\/em>, a dish of zebu meat containing anamalaho greens.\u00a0 <em>Neither<\/em> of which are we going to be able to acquire, so that&#8217;s off to a good start!<\/p>\n<p>Zebu is at least just a type of cattle, so we&#8217;ll be fine there just using beef.\u00a0 Anamalaho, on the other hand, is sort of key, since it imparts a numbing spice similar to Sichuan pepper.\u00a0 Given that we&#8217;re not going to be getting that either, we used dandilion greens, on the theory that they would give a somewhat peppery flavor.\u00a0 In addition, we mixed in spinach and watercress, as suggested by our recipe source.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250326_175347-rotated.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2122\" src=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250326_175347-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"Chopped mixed greens\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250326_175347-rotated.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250326_175347-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fnerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/20250326_175347-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Past that, it&#8217;s a pretty standard beef stew.
